Here is a look at the top ten individual donors who are bankrolling candidates and campaigns in Pennsylvania state-level politics this year:
According to Bloomberg, Yass is managing director and co-founder of Susquehanna Intl Group LLP. Yass’ entire contribution amount of $6,615,000 was given to Students First PAC.
Jurvetson is a psychiatrist and Democrat mega-donor who has backed Democratic candidates and causes across the country. Thus far, Jurvetson’s top contribution in Pennsylvania has been a $1,800,000 contribution to the Pennsylvania Democratic Party.
George Soros is founder of Soros Fund Management LLC and a prominent political donor on a national level. Soros’ top contribution in Pennsylvania went in the amount of $1,000,000 to Pennsylvania Justice & Public Safety PAC.
Houston, Texas philanthropist Jan Duncan takes her spot on the top ten list with her support for the Republican State Leadership Committee PAC & Individual Account. According to finance reports, Duncan’s sole contribution in Pennsylvania was a $1,000,000 donation to the committee.
Walter is a businessman from Houston, Texas. An heir of Walter Oil & Gas, Walter’s sole contribution in Pennsylvania was a $1,000,000 donation to the Republican State Leadership Committee PAC & Individual Account.
Michael Porter is a rancher from Doss, Texas. Porter has been known to donate to a handful of Republican politicians, including Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s campaign in 2017. Porter’s single contribution in Pennsylvania also went to the Republican State Leadership Committee PAC & Individual Account.
Stacy Schusterman is the chairperson of Samson Energy Company, LLC, a private oil and gas company. Schusterman is also chair of Granite Properties, according to the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation website, an organization which she chairs. In Pennsylvania, Schusterman has contributed $500,000 each to the DGA (Democratic Governors Association) Victory Fund and the Future Now Fund – PA.
Nina Ahmad is running for election for Pennsylvania Auditor General. Previously the Deputy Mayor for Public Engagement in Philadelphia, the majority of her contributions — all but $600 that went to the Montgomery County Democratic Committee — have gone to support her own campaign.
Donald Sussman, the founder of Paloma Funds, is an asset manager and philanthropist known to support Democratic causes throughout the country. In Pennsylvania state politics, his largest contribution so far is $600,000 to the DGA (Democratic Governors Association) Victory Fund.
Clay Hamlin III is a real estate investor and entrepreneur. Hamlin earned the number 10 spot on this list with a $500,000 donation to the Commonwealth Leaders Fund and a $75,000 donation to the Citizens Alliance of Pennsylvania PAC.
